Why 8 MB?
Discord's free-tier upload limit is 10 MB in 2026 (it was 8 MB years ago, then 25 MB, then cut back down in 2024). An 8 MB target puts your clip safely under the current 10 MB cap with headroom, so it posts without Nitro and without edge-case rejections.
Will Discord accept the compressed file?
Yes. At 8 MB the output sits 2 MB under Discord's 10 MB free-tier cap, so you never hit the rejection edge cases that files compressed right up to the limit sometimes do.
How long can a video be at 8 MB?
About 90 seconds at 720p with H.265, or 30–45 seconds at 1080p. Past that the compressor will warn that quality won't be acceptable and suggest you trim first.
What about Discord Nitro users?
Nitro Basic raises the limit to 50 MB and full Nitro to 500 MB. If you have either, use the 50 MB compressor instead. The quality at 50 MB is dramatically better than 8 MB for the same source.
Does the output have a watermark?
