01 / 03

Compress Video to 10 MB.
For Discord.

10 MB is Discord's current free-tier upload cap, the number your clip has to clear before anyone in the server can watch it inline. Cloud-rendered H.265 or AV1 hits your exact size target, no watermark, no install. Pair with the AI video upscaler or browse the free scene packs.

Platform guide · Discord

Discord's upload limits, and how 10 MB became the number.

Discord runs three upload tiers, and the free one is smaller than most of the internet remembers. Here is what the caps actually are in 2026 and what fits under the one that matters.

01

Three tiers: 10, 50, 500

Free accounts can upload files up to 10 MB. Nitro Basic raises that to 50 MB, and full Nitro to 500 MB. The cap follows the sender, not the server: a free user is held to 10 MB even in a boosted server, so compressing is the only way to share a clip everyone can post back.

02

The 2024 cut from 25 MB

Discord lowered the free-tier cap from 25 MB to 10 MB in 2024, and a huge share of guides and forum answers still quote the old number. That cut is why clips that used to send now bounce, and why compression went from occasional chore to a standard step before posting gameplay or edits.

03

What survives at 10 MB

10 MB is about 80 megabits, so a 60-second clip gets roughly 1.3 Mbps to work with. In practice a 30 to 60 second 1080p clip compresses to 10 MB and still looks sharp with H.265. Longer clips hold up better dropped to 720p, and past 2 minutes you should trim before you compress.

04

H.264 vs HEVC for Discord embeds

Discord's inline player previews H.264 MP4s reliably on desktop, iOS, and Android. HEVC (H.265) packs 30 to 40 percent more quality into the same 10 MB, but inline playback is less consistent on older devices. If you want the clip to autoplay for everyone in the channel, H.264 is the safe pick.

Questions

The 10 MB side.

Specifics on hitting 10 MB for Discord, quality, runtime, and what survives the squeeze.

Q / 001

Why 10 MB?

10 MB is Discord's free-tier upload limit in 2026. Discord lowered it from 25 MB in 2024, so any clip over 10 MB now bounces unless the sender has Nitro. Compressing to 10 MB lets anyone in the server watch your clip inline, no paid account required.

Q / 002

Wasn't the Discord limit 25 MB?

It was, until 2024. Discord cut the free-tier cap from 25 MB to 10 MB that year, and a lot of older guides still quote the 25 MB number. If your 20 MB clip suddenly stopped uploading, that cut is why.

Q / 003

How long can a video be at 10 MB?

Roughly 30 to 60 seconds at 1080p with H.265, or 2 minutes at 720p. Past that, the compressor will warn you that quality drops noticeably and suggest 720p or a trim.

Q / 004

Will the clip preview and autoplay inside Discord?

Yes, as long as it's an MP4 under the cap. Discord's inline player handles H.264 most reliably across desktop and mobile; if in-channel playback on every device matters more than squeezing out the last bit of quality, pick H.264 output.

Q / 005

What if I have Nitro Basic or Nitro?

Nitro Basic raises the cap to 50 MB and full Nitro to 500 MB. With either, use the 50 MB compressor instead; the same clip at 50 MB keeps far more detail than at 10 MB.

Q / 006

Does the 10 MB output have a watermark?

No. YouPro never adds a watermark, on any plan. The MP4 you download is clean.
