Get the MP4

Sign up free. The MP4 lands in your dashboard in under 30 seconds for most clips.

Pick what you need. Skip what you don't.

Most YouTube downloaders cap free downloads at 720p so you'll upgrade. We don't. The free output is whatever YouTube serves at the source.

What most YouTube videos serve at native resolution. Clean H.264 output.

When source allows

If the video was uploaded in 4K, you get 4K back. 1440p sources come back at 1440p, same idea. We don't upscale to fake a higher resolution.

Strip the audio for podcast clips, voiceover references, or beat samples. Skip the file size of full video.

What 4K actually means here.

Plenty of sites put 4K on the button and hand you a 1080p file. Here is the part nobody explains, and what you actually get.

Why most free sites stop at 1080p

Above 1080p, YouTube stops shipping video and audio together. 4K arrives as a video-only stream that has to be merged with a separate audio track before it is playable. That merge costs real CPU and bandwidth per download, so most free sites skip it and quietly hand you the 1080p file that needs no work.

What you get instead

The highest video stream the source actually has, merged with the best audio, up to 2160p60. 1440p sources land at 1440p, not bumped up and not knocked down to 1080p. Frame rate survives at every tier, so a 60fps upload stays 60fps rather than being halved to 30. If a video was only ever uploaded in 1080p, no tool on earth can give you 4K, and we say so instead of pretending.

Expect a large file

A 4K60 minute lands somewhere between roughly 65 MB and 130 MB, depending on which codec YouTube served for that upload. A ten minute video can therefore be anywhere from 650 MB to 1.3 GB. That is not a bug and it is not compression failing, it is simply what 4K weighs.

One honest caveat on codecs

YouTube never serves 4K in H.264, only VP9 or AV1, so a true 4K MP4 carries one of those inside it. Anything current plays it: recent phones, browsers, VLC, Premiere, DaVinci. A genuinely old TV or player that only understands H.264 may not. Grab 1080p there, that one is H.264.

YouPro vs the free downloader sites.

Same end result, different path to getting there. The free sites pay their bills with your time and attention. We pay for ours with paid plans, so the free one stays clean.

Built for creators. Not piracy.

The four use cases people actually open this page for. Saving your own uploads. Pulling masters for editing. Building reference folders. Watching offline. Respect copyright on everything else.

Save your own

Back up your own uploads.

Channels get strikes. Videos get age-restricted. Save your masters before YouTube decides for you.

Repurpose

Pull source MP4s for editing.

Drop the file straight into Premiere, CapCut, DaVinci. No re-recording, no quality loss from screen capture.

Reference

Build an editor swipe file.

Save tutorials, color grades, transitions you want to study. Folders are easier to search than a watch-later list.

Offline

Watch anywhere, no app needed.

Save to your phone or laptop, watch on flights, transit, or anywhere YouTube's app loses the connection.

Questions

Frequently asked

Can I really download YouTube in 4K, or does it cap at 1080p?+

Really 4K. We take the highest video stream the source has, up to 2160p60, and merge it with the best audio track. There is no hidden 1080p ceiling. The catch that applies everywhere: if a video was only uploaded in 1080p, nothing can turn it into 4K, and we tell you the real resolution rather than labelling it 4K anyway.

Does it support 1440p (2K), or only 1080p and 4K?+

Yes. We match whatever resolution tier the source actually has, and 1440p is one of YouTube's standard tiers, so a 1440p upload comes back as a 1440p MP4, not upscaled to 4K and not knocked down to 1080p. Same merge process as 4K: the video and audio arrive as separate streams above 1080p and get combined into one file before you download it.

Why do other free YouTube to MP4 sites stop at 1080p?+

Because above 1080p YouTube stops shipping video and audio in one file. 4K comes down as a video-only stream that has to be merged with a separate audio track before it will play. That merge costs CPU and bandwidth on every single download, so most ad-funded sites skip it and quietly serve the 1080p version that needs no processing.

How big is a 4K MP4 from YouTube?+

Roughly 65 MB to 130 MB per minute, depending on which codec YouTube served for that upload. So a ten minute video runs about 650 MB to 1.3 GB. Large files are simply what 4K weighs. If you need it smaller, run the result through the compressor and pick a target size.

Does 60fps survive at 1080p, or only in 4K?+

At every resolution, not just 4K. If the upload is 60fps, the download stays 60fps, we do not halve it to 30, whether that lands at 1080p, 1440p, or 2160p. Frame rate matters more than resolution for gameplay and sports footage, so it is preserved by default regardless of which quality tier you end up with.

Will a 4K MP4 play everywhere?+

On anything current, yes. One honest caveat: YouTube never serves 4K in H.264, only VP9 or AV1, so a genuine 4K MP4 contains one of those. Modern phones, browsers, VLC, Premiere, and DaVinci all handle it. A much older TV or player that only understands H.264 may not, and 1080p is the H.264 option there.

How do I save a YouTube video as MP4?+

Copy the YouTube link from the share button. Paste it into the box on this page. Sign up free, and the MP4 lands in your dashboard in under 30 seconds for most clips.

Is this allowed?+

YouPro is built for creators saving content they have rights to, your own videos, footage you're licensed to use, references for fair-use commentary. Respect the original creator and YouTube's terms. We're not a piracy tool.

Does it leave a watermark?+

No watermark on any plan. The MP4 you download is the source quality YouTube serves, clean, no overlay, no branding.

Are there ads or popups?+

No. We don't run banner ads, popups, or fake download buttons. Most free YouTube downloaders survive on those, we don't, so we don't have to dodge ads to use the page.

What quality can I save?+

Whatever YouTube serves at the source, up to 2160p60. 1440p and 1080p are there too, and frame rate is preserved. We don't re-encode unless you ask, so the output is the cleanest copy YouTube allows.

Does it work on iPhone or Android?+

Yes. The downloader runs in any modern browser, Safari, Chrome, Firefox. No app to install. The MP4 saves to your Files app on iOS or Downloads folder on Android.

Can I save my own YouTube videos?+

Absolutely, that's the most common use case. Creators back up their own uploads in case of takedowns, repurpose footage across platforms, or pull source MP4s for editing.

How long does it take?+

Short videos under 5 minutes return in 10–20 seconds. Longer clips run in the background and you get a notification when ready. There's no queue, cloud GPUs handle each request in parallel.

Is there a length limit?+

Free accounts can save videos up to 30 minutes. Pro accounts handle longer clips and full-length videos.

Does YouPro store the MP4 forever?+

We cache the file in your dashboard for 24 hours so you can re-download without re-converting. After that it's permanently deleted from our servers. Save it to your own device.

Why is YouPro better than y2mate or savefrom?+

Honestly: same end result, much cleaner UX. The popular free downloaders bury the actual download button under three layers of fake ads, redirect you to sketchy sites, and crank up the popup count every year. We don't run ads on this page. The product pays for itself through paid plans, not your patience.
