How it works

Three steps. Ten seconds.

Step 01

Click Share, Copy clip link

Open the Twitch post or video and copy the share link to your clipboard.

Step 02

Paste it here

Drop the link into the input on this page. We detect twitch.tv URLs automatically.

Step 03

Save the MP4

Sign up free. The watermark-free MP4 lands in your dashboard in seconds.

Who uses it

Built for creators. Not piracy.

Streamers

Archive your own clips.

Twitch keeps clips, but channels get banned and re-orgs delete VODs. Pull MP4s of your best moments to a place you control.

Editors

Pull source for highlight reels.

Drop the clip MP4 into Premiere, DaVinci, or CapCut. Source quality, no screen-record, no quality loss.

Reaction

Save reaction-fuel.

The wins, the funny moments, the controversial calls. Save them as MP4 instead of cutting screen recordings.

Cross-post

Share clips beyond Twitch.

Save and post the same clip to TikTok, YouTube Shorts, X, without re-recording or losing quality.

Twitch specifics

Clips, VODs, Highlights. Know the difference.

Twitch stores your moments in three containers, each with a different lifespan. Which one you're downloading changes what you get and what to archive first.

Clips are short, VODs are the whole stream.

A Clip is up to 60 seconds, cut by any viewer from a live moment. A VOD is the full past broadcast, often hours long. Highlights sit in between: streamer-curated segments trimmed from a VOD and saved permanently. This tool handles clips.twitch.tv links and full VOD URLs alike.

VODs expire. That is why archiving matters.

Twitch auto-deletes past broadcasts after a retention window that varies by account tier. A stream you can rewatch today can be gone in a few weeks. If a broadcast matters, pull the MP4 while the VOD still exists.

Clips outlive VODs, but not the channel.

Clips stay watchable after the VOD they were cut from expires, making them Twitch's more durable format. They're not indestructible: if the channel is banned or deleted, its clips go down with it. An MP4 on your own storage is the only copy Twitch can't take away.

What is actually in the file.

The download is the stream as Twitch served it, up to 1080p60 when the original broadcast ran that high. The MP4 has video and stream audio only, no chat overlay, since chat renders separately. Add chat reactions in the edit afterward if you want them.

Questions

The Twitch side.

Plain answers on the Twitch downloader, quality, watermarks, mobile, and what's actually free.

Does this work on Twitch clips and full VODs?

Clips: yes, instantly. Full VODs (multi-hour streams): supported but processing takes minutes per hour of video. Use the dashboard for VODs over 30 minutes.

How long do Twitch VODs last before they are deleted?

Twitch automatically deletes past broadcasts after a limited retention window, and the length varies by account tier (regular accounts keep VODs for a shorter period than Partners and Prime/Turbo users). Highlights the streamer saves are kept permanently. If a broadcast matters to you, download it while the VOD still exists.

Can I download someone else's Twitch clip?

Technically yes, any public clip link works. Whether you should depends on what you do with it: personal archiving and fair-use commentary are the common cases, but the footage still belongs to the streamer. Get permission before re-uploading someone's content as your own.

Do downloaded clips include Twitch chat?

No. Chat is rendered as a separate layer on Twitch, so the MP4 contains only the stream video and audio. Editors who want chat reactions in a highlight add them separately in their editing software.

What quality are Twitch clips?

You get the source quality of the original broadcast, up to 1080p60 when the stream ran at 1080p60. We pass the file through unchanged, no re-compression, so the MP4 matches what Twitch served.

Can I save subscriber-only clips or VODs?

No. Subscriber-only content requires you to be a subscriber on Twitch itself. We can't bypass that.

Where do I find the clip URL?

On the Twitch clip page, click Share, then Copy. Or use the URL in your browser's address bar (it will start with clips.twitch.tv). Full VOD links from twitch.tv/videos/ work too.

Is there a free download limit?

5 clips per day on free, unlimited on Pro. That covers most casual archiving; editors pulling source for full highlight reels usually want Pro.
