Editor notes

Working with sports footage.

60 fps broadcast is a gift for ramps

Unlike film sources locked at 24 fps, sports comes in at 50 or 60, and replay feeds go higher. That means you can ramp to 40 percent or slower on real frames instead of interpolated ones, with no optical-flow smearing on fast limbs or a spinning ball. Set the timeline to your delivery rate and keep the original clips for the slow sections.

Cut on the moment, not the build-up

Highlight edits die in the approach. The strike, the finish, and the reaction are the edit, and everything before them is context you can usually drop. Pull the two seconds before contact for anticipation, then hold the reaction longer than feels right, because the crowd and the celebration are what carry emotion.

Broadcast graphics and the vertical crop

Scoreboards, network bugs, and lower thirds sit in the corners of every broadcast frame, and a 9:16 crop often cuts straight through them. Punch in on the action and let the overlays fall outside the frame, or crop from a replay angle, which is usually cleaner than the live feed. Pack pages note which clips are graphics-free.

Questions

Using the sports archive.

How creators actually pull from the sports library: quality, copyright, and what's allowed.

Q / 001

Can I use sports clips on YouTube or TikTok?

Sports broadcasts are among the most aggressively claimed footage online. Leagues run automated matching on most platforms. Use these for personal edits, commentary, and analysis, and expect claims on anything that reads as a straight highlight re-upload.

Q / 002

How fast do packs land after a match?

Major finals and marquee fight cards land within a day or two. Regular-season fixtures follow demand, so the bigger the audience, the sooner the pack.

Q / 003

Is commentary audio included?

Most packs ship with the broadcast audio intact so you can keep a call that matters. Clean crowd-only variants exist for the bigger events, which is what you want when the edit runs on its own track.

Q / 004

What frame rate is sports footage?

Broadcasts are 50 or 60 fps, sometimes higher for super-slow-motion replay feeds. That is a real advantage over film sources: 60 fps ramps down to 40 percent without any frame interpolation.

Q / 005

Do you have older or classic sporting moments?

Yes, though archive footage is usually SD or early HD. Pack pages list the source resolution so you know before downloading whether it needs an upscale.
